U.S. Wireless Data Boom

Revenues from wireless data (non-voice) services in the U.S. grew 39% in 2008 to 32 billion US dollars, accounting for 22% of all wireless service revenues, according to industry body CTIA. A survey of U.S. carriers found that more than one trillion text messages were exchanged in 2008, almost triple the 363 billion text messages transmitted in 2007.
