Revenues from wireless data (non-voice) services in the U.S. grew 39% in 2008 to 32 billion US dollars, accounting for 22% of all wireless service revenues, according to industry body CTIA. A survey of U.S. carriers found that more than one trillion text messages were exchanged in 2008, almost triple the 363 billion text messages transmitted in 2007. MMS traffic more than doubled to 15 billion messages from 6 billion in 2007.
