Apple said that its customers have downloaded around 5 billion apps so far this year, according to Reuters, compared with 10 billion across the previous two-and-a-half years. Apple said it has paid developers more than 2.5 billion US dollars through its App Store, which currently contains around 425,000 apps for iPads, iPhones and iPod touches.
