Apple said that it sold 3.8 million iPhones in the quarter ending March 28, 2009, compared with 1.7 million in the same period of 2008. In the quarter ending December 27, 2008, Apple shipped 4.4 million iPhones and in the previous quarter 6.9 million handsets.
