India's fifth largest mobile operator, Aircel, plans to invest 1 billion US dollars this year expanding its network with the aim of nearly doubling its existing subscriber base of 17 million. The company, controlled by Maxis of Malaysia, also said it will invest 5 billion US dollars over the next three to five years to expand its operations across India.
